How to Know You Love Your Job

Candidates

Passion and purpose are difficult to find in life. The way you feel about your job can dictate your mood throughout the week and make or break your Sunday nights.

Here are five signs you love your job and you’ve found a place where you can grow professionally.

People matter to you

You’re excited about your co-workers and not only do you consider them to be friends, but you’re inspired by their passion and dedication and you’re impressed by the wonderful things they’re accomplishing. You’re happy to share credit with them and you help them out without hesitating. When you’re sick, you feel guilty because you know these people are counting on you. You consider your clients and customers to be actual people, not just numbers and quotas.

You value success

You don’t think in terms of surviving the workday. Instead you focus on being successful in the hours you spend there. You’re rewarded not only by money, but you feel fulfilled and gratified when you complete a successful project or meet a deadline. You enjoy praise from your boss and you love boasting to them about your achievements.

You enjoy your time at work

For you, the day flies by and you can’t believe when you finally glance at the clock and it’s lunchtime already. You don’t struggle to stay disciplined while you’re there — instead you have trouble figuring out what to do first because you’re so excited about it all. Sunday nights are not stressful for you, and when you leave work at the end of a day, you leave a to-do list that you’re ready to tackle tomorrow.

You get the bigger picture

You enjoy meetings because they’re not a waste of time — they’re thought-provoking and stimulating gatherings that lead to decisions and initiatives. And best of all, you get to participate! Instead of worrying about how to say things, you’re thinking about what to say. You find the challenges exhilarating and you’re enthusiastic about the conclusions and compromises you all reach.

You don’t think about retirement

Your job is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you think about as you fall asleep. You talk about it at home with your friends and loved ones and you’re pretty sure your friends are jealous of your job and your passion for it.
